The hammer and spring clip kit are replacement parts that are made by Hayward. They used the same high-grade materials that were used to make the original factory parts. This makes them genuine OEM parts that all our customers can trust.
The hammer is unique to this cleaner as it is the only moving part the cleaner has, making a simple yet dependable propulsion system. As this part moves it opens up a mouth-like opening in which all the dirt and debris travels through however, the opening can only fit items small enough to make it through this gap, larger debris may get caught and need to be removed so that way the performance of the cleaner is not inhibited.
The parts themselves are black and rests inside the lower body assembly and can be easily accessed by first removing the hammer retainer. Once removed it exposes the hammer for debris removal if it's clogged or to replace the hammer itself as it can wear and deteriorate over the length of time and use, yet it is more durable than the traditional diaphragms used on other types of pool cleaners.
