Caretaker Leaf-B-Gone Bag Comparison & Overview

Welcome back, ePoolSupply supporters! In today's blog, I will be going over the two Caretaker Leaf-B-Gone filter bags. I will do a comparison and an overview of the filter bags. I will also be going over the Leaf-B-Gone canister. At the bottom of the blog, I have attached a video our pool professional has made to show you the differences and also to give you some useful tips. Keep on reading to learn more.

About The Canister

The Jandy Leaf-B-Gone system uses clean, filtered water to clear dirt and debris from swimming pools and spas. Utilizing the pull created by a high-pressure venturi nozzle inside the canister, the Jandy Leaf-B-Gone draws leaves and debris from the pool bottom through a plumbing line connected to the Jandy Leaf-B-Gone floor canister. Clean water is returned to the pool through a specialized fitting that directs flow to improve pool skimmer efficiency.

Comparison and Overview Of The Filter Bags

If your pool was built pre-1999 you are going to be looking for the older part number which is 4-4-400. If it was built after 1999 then you will need the new filter bag which is part number 3-9-123. When looking at both bags, you will see the pre-1999 bag is a little bit shorter and wider. The pre-1999 bag will typically have a hard rubber trim ring that goes all the way around the top of the bag. This will allow you to set it down and grab the outer edge of the canister so it will sit in there flush. If you try to use the new version of the bag, you will have a crumpled bag since they are different lengths. The newer bags Caretaker slimmed up the ring and made it a little bit easier to work with. It is a thinner plastic and has two handles on the inside so you can just grab it and pull it out. Besides the different sizes, it is the same type of bag. Both bags will hold the same volume of debris it is all about the canister and how the locking ring will sit down into the system. In this video, our pool professional compares a couple of parts that are manufactured by Jandy/Caretaker for the same unit they also produce the Jandy/Caretaker Leaf-B-Gone. This system uses cleaner, filtered water to clear dirt and debris from swimming pools and spas. Utilizing the pull created by a high-pressure venturi nozzle inside the canister, the Jandy/Caretaker Leaf-B-Gone draws leaves and debris from the pool bottom through a plumbing line connected to the Jandy Leaf-B-Gone floor canister. Clean water is returned to the pool through a specialized fitting that directs flow to improve pool skimmer efficiency. These were made back in the '80s and were updated after the year 1999 so they both use a different style bag which we go over in this video.
