The plastic gears and metal parts were fine. The individual valves seemed crudely forged and would not move freely. After assembly, the gearbox is not working. I happen to have old valves from years ago I will try to use again.

RetroJets to the rescue

I took a chance and replaced all cleaning heads with the RetroJets. The original Caretaker heads had teeth that would either clog with debris or get snaggled and not work well. The RetroJet design seems to have eliminated this problem. Time will tell. So far I am happy with the RetroJet heads.

A Better Than OEM Alternative

I ordered one of these to test to make sure it was a quality product. I was mainly interested in seeing how the turning mechanism functioned. With the OEM the points for the turning mechanism would break. I replaced all 14 of mine less than 3 years ago and they are all bad now. None turn. What I’m seeing with these is that they look like they opted to go a different route. I’m not sure if it will last longer but I knew I didn’t want what the original has. Time will tell and with this being nearly half the price it’s worth a shot. I am now waiting for the other 13 to come in. I’m feeling positive about this.
