This is the Waterway Plastics Crystal Water 36 sq. ft. D.E. filter, part 570-0036-07. It uses internal D.E. grids and requires the manufacturer-specified D.E. charge. A compatible backwash valve is optional and sold separately. Waterway’s owner’s manual lists a 72 GPM design flow and a 50 PSI maximum working pressure for this model. The pressure limit is not a normal operating-pressure target. Have your installer size the filter with the actual pump output, plumbing and other equipment; filtration area alone does not establish the correct pool size. Waterway’s catalog shows a 36.5-inch tank height and 23.5-inch width. The owner’s manual additionally calls for at least 11 inches of clearance above the filter and 6 inches at the side. Keep the pressure gauge, air relief, clamp and drain accessible; these service clearances are additional to the tank dimensions. The owner’s manual specifies 4.5 lb of D.E. for this 36 sq. ft. model in its recommended-charge table. Follow the full manual for charging, startup, backwashing and subsequent replenishment. Never use the filter’s grid area as a substitute for the specified media amount. Waterway lists slide valve 600-1500, multi-port valve WVD001 with 2-inch FPT connections, and WVD002 with 2-inch socket connections for Crystal Water D.E. filters. These are separate purchases. Confirm the exact valve, connection style, adapter requirements and installation layout with your installer. Waterway’s catalog describes the Crystal Water tank platform as convertible between cartridge and D.E. filtration by changing the internals. This is not a media-only swap. The Crystal Water 36 pairs reusable filter grids with a coating of diatomaceous earth to capture debris from circulating pool water. Its 36-square-foot filtration area and 72 GPM design flow give your installer clear specifications to work with when matching the filter to the pump, plumbing and pool.
D.E.-coated grids
A measured charge of diatomaceous earth coats the internal grids. Follow Waterway’s instructions for startup, backwashing and replenishing the filter media.
Plumbing flexibility
The 2½-inch internal piping works with a separately selected compatible backwash valve. Match the valve’s connection style to the installation.
Serviceable construction
The fiberglass-reinforced polypropylene tank houses a removable grid assembly for periodic inspection and cleaning.
