The upper middle body is a replacement part that was made by Hayward. Making this a genuine OEM product.

The upper middle body is the main housing unit for a few different parts that all work together creating the turning power for these suction cleaners. The parts that are housed in this unit are the cone gear, intermediate gear, intermediate gear shaft, spindle gear screw, spindle gear, spindle gear bushing, and finally the cone gear bushing. This body also acts as a protective cover for these parts ensuring no outside influence can disrupt them or wear on them as the suction cleaner operates.

This part is white to match the color scheme of any of the Hayward cleaners listed above and also has mounting points along the top side for all the various parts it houses. It also has as an opening in its center that the dirt and debris travel up and out, through the cleaner, and into the pool's filtration system.
