The Hayward 1/8" Stainless Steel Basket (BS78001/8) works by filtering out medium to large debris from liquids. It is installed in an 8-inch basket, where the water passes through the basket. The 1/8" mesh captures particles that are 3.175 mm or larger, allowing cleaner water to flow through while preventing larger debris from entering the filter. 

• Mesh Size: The basket has a mesh size of 1/8 inch, allowing it to capture particles larger than 3.175 mm (about 1/8 inch). This includes leaves, twigs, and other larger debris.
• Debris Capture: As water flows into the basket, the mesh traps debris while allowing cleaner water to pass through, effectively filtering out larger contaminants.
• Stainless Steel Construction: Made from stainless steel and can withstand exposure to harsh chemicals or saltwater, making it suitable for various environments, such as swimming pools.
