These stainless steel plates are designed to prevent wear and tear on the 5-Port Housing and also the lower cam. The washers sit between the housing and the lower cam. As the cam rotates around the valve, the two washers spin to reduce friction and prevent the plastic from wearing down. Without these washers, your plastics will wear down and compromise at a much higher rate making these vital to the success and performance of your water valve.
