Caretaker 4-9-586: High-Flow Bayonet Pop-Up Head in Dark Blue

The Caretaker 4-9-586 is a Dark Blue high-flow bayonet pop-up head for a matching Caretaker 99 bayonet-style floor collar. Choose this replacement when your existing collar is in good condition and matches the head connection. During a cleaning cycle, water from the in-floor system raises the head and directs a jet across the pool surface to move debris along the planned cleaning path.

High-flow configuration: The installed nozzle is bonded into the head. Do not try to remove it or substitute a different insert.

Check Fit Before Ordering

• Match part number 4-9-586, the Dark Blue color and the connection style to your existing installation.
• This is a bayonet-style Caretaker head configuration. It is not a direct replacement for the older threaded fitting or another brand's head.
• Keep the high-flow configuration only where the pool's cleaning plan calls for it. Increasing nozzle flow can affect the other heads on the same zone.

Recommended Tool and Head Service

For head removal and installation, we recommend the HammerTech Solutions All Metal Caretaker Tool | HTS-Caretaker. It can be used by hand or attached to a standard pool pole, making it useful for reaching submerged heads. The tool is sold separately.

Shut off the pump and prevent an automatic restart before servicing. Make sure the head is fully down and the tool is engaged. Bayonet heads release counterclockwise and lock back into the collar clockwise. Inspect the head, collar and nozzle for trapped debris. Do not force a stuck head or damaged collar.

Does this include a nozzle?

Factory-installed high-flow nozzle; bonded in place and not removable.

Will this fit every Caretaker system?

No. Match the fitting style, part number and nozzle configuration. Older threaded heads and bayonet heads are not interchangeable.

Why is my head not cleaning properly?

A blocked nozzle, debris in the collar or inadequate flow to the cleaning zone can affect operation. Check the owner's manual before assuming the head needs replacement; a problem affecting several heads may be elsewhere in the system.
