The Caretaker 5-9-7071 is a Carolina Blue VinylCare complete head for Caretaker vinyl-liner installations. Choose this assembly when you need both the cleaning head and its matching collar. During a cleaning cycle, water from the in-floor system raises the head and directs a jet across the pool surface to move debris along the planned cleaning path.

Nozzle insert required: This listing does not include a nozzle insert. Choose the correct insert for the head location; color alone does not determine the nozzle size.

Check Fit Before Ordering

• Match part number 5-9-7071, the Carolina Blue color and the connection style to your existing installation.
• This is a bayonet-style Caretaker head configuration. It is not a direct replacement for the older threaded fitting or another brand's head.
• Match the nozzle selection to your pool's cleaning plan or the correctly sized insert in the head being replaced.
• This assembly uses a VinylCare collar for a vinyl-liner installation. The liner must be in its final position before installing the collar and head. Collar and liner work should follow the manufacturer's installation instructions.

Recommended Tool and Head Service

For head removal and installation, we recommend the HammerTech Solutions All Metal Caretaker Tool | HTS-Caretaker. It can be used by hand or attached to a standard pool pole, making it useful for reaching submerged heads. The tool is sold separately.

Shut off the pump and prevent an automatic restart before servicing. Make sure the head is fully down and the tool is engaged. Bayonet heads release counterclockwise and lock back into the collar clockwise. Inspect the head, collar and nozzle for trapped debris. Do not force a stuck head or damaged collar.

The HammerTech recommendation is for servicing the pop-up head. VinylCare collar installation is a separate operation requiring the appropriate collar tool and liner procedure.

Common Questions

Does this include a nozzle?

Nozzle insert sold separately; select the size specified for this location.

Will this fit every Caretaker system?

No. Match the fitting style, part number and nozzle configuration. Older threaded heads and bayonet heads are not interchangeable.

Why is my head not cleaning properly?

A blocked nozzle, debris in the collar or inadequate flow to the cleaning zone can affect operation. Check the owner's manual before assuming the head needs replacement; a problem affecting several heads may be elsewhere in the system.
