What distinguishes the EHE350NC from the other Hi-E2 models?
EHE350NC uses natural gas and a copper primary and cupronickel secondary heat exchanger. It is ASME-certified. For the cupronickel-primary version using the same fuel, compare EHE350NS. Natural-gas and propane models are distinct configurations; order the model matching the installation’s fuel supply.
Is 350,000 BTU/h the input or heat output?
It is the rated fuel input. Jandy lists 95% thermal efficiency for EHE350NC; do not treat the 350,000 BTU/h input rating as delivered heat output. Pool size, desired temperature, weather and heat loss determine heater sizing and warm-up time.
What electrical supply does this heater require?
The Hi-E2 EHE manual specifies 115V AC, 60Hz. This is not a field-selectable 115/230V heater. A qualified installer must follow the unit’s rating plate, wiring diagram, grounding and bonding requirements, and applicable codes.
What are the cabinet dimensions and required water flow?
Jandy’s dimensional drawing lists 31 7/8 in. wide × 23 1/2 in. deep × 34 1/16 in. high. These are cabinet dimensions, not installation clearances. The published flow range is 30–100 GPM and maximum working pressure is 75 psig. The installer must verify the entire plumbing arrangement and any required external bypass.
What plumbing connections does the Hi-E2 use?
The heater uses 2-inch threaded inlet/outlet flange connections. The manual also describes connections using the supplied donut gaskets for specified 1 1/2-inch PVC, 2-inch copper or 1 1/2-inch Schedule 40 metal pipe. Follow the manual’s exact material and assembly instructions; this is not a universal drop-in replacement.
Can the heater be installed indoors or outdoors?
The manual provides indoor and outdoor installation arrangements. Indoor installations require the specified vent system, combustion-air provisions and clearances. All installations require a suitable base, correct gas supply, water flow and condensate disposal. Installation and service must be performed by a qualified professional.
Does it work with pool automation?
The manual documents wired remote operation with AquaLink RS and a basic interrupt-type remote connection. The heater itself uses dual pool/spa thermostat controls. External automation equipment and installation wiring are separate; have the installer follow the correct remote-control diagram.
What is included, and which installation items are separate?
This listing is for one complete Hi-E2 heater in the fuel and heat-exchanger configuration identified above. Jandy’s manual identifies supplied condensate tubing/fittings and water-connection gaskets. Site-specific gas piping, electrical wiring, drainage routing, venting materials and external automation are separate. A pressure-relief valve is not supplied and must be added when the installation requires one.
Can cupronickel tolerate poor water chemistry or seawater?
Cupronickel is not a substitute for correct water balance. Follow Jandy’s water-chemistry and sanitizer-installation instructions to limit corrosion and scale. The manual excludes true seawater systems around 35,000 ppm salinity, boiler use and general service water heating.
