Hayward KIT-BURNER, HDF400 (HDXFBRN400) The core combustion component in the HDF400 gas pool heater. Its primary function is to mix gas (natural gas or propane) with air in the correct ratio to produce a controlled flame that heats the water flowing through the heat exchanger. 

• Gas Supply and Air Intake:
  The burner receives a regulated amount of gas from the gas valve and mixes it with air.
• Ignition:
  When the heater is activated, an ignition source (such as a spark or hot surface igniter) ignites the air-gas mixture.
• Combustion:
  The burner produces a consistent flame, generating heat as it burns the gas.
• Heat Transfer:
  The flame heats the tubes in the heat exchanger, through which pool water flows. This warms the water before it returns to the pool.
• Exhaust:
  Combustion gases are safely vented away from the system through the heater's exhaust system.
