Pentair ChemCheck Water Quality Monitor, Rechargeable Battery | EC-523402

Pentair EC-523402 is the rechargeable-battery ChemCheck water quality monitor. It measures pH, oxidation-reduction potential (ORP) and water temperature, with readings available through the Pentair Pool app. It helps you track water conditions between routine pool tests.

Understand the readings

ORP indicates the water’s oxidation-reduction potential. It is a different measurement from free chlorine in parts per million. Continue using appropriate test methods for sanitizer concentration and other water-balance parameters; a reassuring app reading is not a complete water analysis.

Install where the water can be sampled correctly

ChemCheck connects to the circulation plumbing at the equipment area. Plan tubing, mounting access and dependable network coverage before installation. Charge the supplied battery as directed and allow access for future recharging; this version does not use disposable AA batteries. Readings require representative circulating water.

Probe care and calibration

Follow the installation and service guide for probe conditioning, calibration, cleaning and storage. This is a sensor-based monitor, not a device that consumes reagent cartridges. Check the sampling path and flow when investigating inconsistent readings, and compare results with the appropriate manual water tests.

App setup and ownership

Use Pentair’s current app-support instructions when setting up the monitor. Older PDFs may call the app Pentair Home. Keep the device connected, maintain its power source and review alerts so information remains useful. ChemCheck does not automatically add acid or chlorine.

Frequently asked questions

Does ChemCheck measure free chlorine?

No. It measures ORP, pH and water temperature. Use a suitable chemical test to measure free chlorine concentration.

Does it replace a test kit?

No. Pentair recommends traditional water testing alongside ChemCheck monitoring. Other water-balance parameters still need to be checked.

Does it automatically balance the water?

No. This is a monitoring device. Chemical additions and other corrective maintenance are separate tasks.

How is this version powered?

EC-523402 uses the supplied rechargeable lithium-ion battery pack. Follow the charging instructions; it is not an AA-battery device.

Why might readings stop when circulation stops?

Water held in the sampling chamber is not representative of the pool when the pump is off. Check the flow and troubleshooting guidance before assuming the probe has failed.
