Pentair Kreepy Krauly Legend / Platinum Gears - for Back-Up Valve (EG15)

The gears for the backup valve are replacement parts that are made by Pentair. They used the same high-grade materials that were used to make the original factory parts. Making them genuine OEM products.

These gears are the internal parts of the backup valve which was designed to be the feature that backs the pressure side cleaner out of any corners or edges along with the pool steps. This will normally cause the cleaner to be hung up or impeded, disrupting the cleaning process. Without it, the cleaner would be insufficient in its ability to suck and pull up dirt and debris off your pool's surface.

These parts are assorted colors with the gears themselves being white and are housed in the center of the backup valve and should be located approximately 30 inches from the head of the cleaner. It will turn on every 3 minutes and 30 seconds to pull the cleaner out of tight corners or trouble spots. One great troubleshooting tip, if the cleaner is tangled up via the hoses or floating at the top of the pool water, would be to check this backup valve to see if it is operating correctly. You can do this by pulling it out of the water to see if it is running, it should run for approximately 30 seconds if it runs longer than this then it means the internal gears have failed and is stuck in the open position. Ultimately means they need to be replaced. just make sure you are purchasing the full assembly with the gears included, replacing just the outer case will not correct this issue.
