ZeoSand is produced by ZEO, Inc. as a natural zeolite filter media that drops into standard pool sand filters in place of #20 silica. The granules are made from high-purity clinoptilolite zeolite with a porous, irregular surface that dramatically increases contact area and improves fine-particle capture compared with regular sand.
For pools, ZeoSand is sized and rated for use in residential and commercial sand filters and is tested to NSF/ANSI-50 requirements when installed according to manufacturer directions.

Q: How much ZeoSand do I use if my filter calls for 200 lb of sand?
A: Zeo’s guidance is that 1 lb of ZeoSand replaces about 2 lb of standard sand in typical pool filters under 500 lb. For a 200 lb sand spec, that usually means about 100 lb of ZeoSand, or four 25 lb bags. Always confirm with the current Zeo use-rate chart and your filter manual.
Q: Can I just pour ZeoSand on top of my existing sand bed?
A: No. The old sand needs to be completely removed, the laterals inspected, and the tank refilled by weight with ZeoSand only. Mixing on top of a worn sand bed can hurt performance and make troubleshooting harder.

ZeoSand 25 lbs Zeolite Filter Media is a sand replacement designed to upgrade the performance of your existing sand filter without changing the tank. Each bag contains natural zeolite granules sized for standard pool filters. Compared with traditional silica sand, ZeoSand uses a lighter charge in the tank, yet its rough, three-dimensional structure screens out much smaller particles and helps remove ammonia through ion exchange. That combination gives you sharper water clarity and can help minimize chloramine issues that cause red eyes and strong odors. Installation follows normal sand-change procedures: remove the old media, inspect and repair internal laterals, then refill with ZeoSand by weight according to the filter’s original sand requirement and Zeo’s published 1:2 replacement ratio.
Pro Tip
Before you switch to ZeoSand, record your current clean filter pressure with silica sand. After the changeover and start-up, log the new clean pressure and watch how long it takes to rise 8–10 psi. If pressure climbs unusually fast, check that you used the correct ZeoSand weight and that laterals are intact and seated properly.
